Bred by James Schenk AKA the late Heime Cheeba (Alaska Cananbis Cache) 
 
Heime Cheeba was growing, breeding as well as preserving Cannabis strains for 40 plus years. Most of all his strains are from 70s, 80s, and 90s time period and many old legends from former and current seed Banks. So many strains hunted across the world, it's hard to list them all but the MTF 1974, and Mud Bight Delight are still 2 of the most requested strains from the past. Most of all the new strains have been bred by using genetics from the past and working them to stabilization.
 
Acapulco gold is the traditional name of a potent strain of cannabis (Cannabis sativa L.) Originating in Acapulco, Mexico. [...]

The Oxford English Dictionary quotes an early usage of the term from a 1965 newsletter, in which it was described it as a special grade of pot growing only in the vicinity of Acapulco. The color is either brownish gold or a mixture of gold and green. This grade has a potency surpassed by few of the green varieties.
